Colorado Sewing Rebellion (2016-2019)

Colorado Sewing Rebellion (2016-2019) In partnership with the Boulder Public Library and Maker Space BLDG 61, Steven Frost hosted a monthly program called the Colorado Sewing Rebellion. It is an ongoing collaboration with the artist and textile activist Carole Francis Lung who started the Sewing Rebellion project in 2006. Instead of formal classes, Sewing Rebellion taught people to sew by facilitating the repair and repurposing of their own clothing. It also created a place for people from diverse economic backgrounds, housing statuses, political beliefs, ages, and musical preferences to engage in a shared creative practice. Sewing Rebellion became a social core for BLDG 61 and one of the library’s most popular programs until it ended in late 2019.
