Liberace in Purgatory (2020)
Part of the artist-made haunted house, No Place to Go (Oct 2020), Liberace in Purgatory, 2020 was an installation and live performance that lasted 8 nights. It was the culmination of seven years of creative research on the persona and aesthetics of American icon Władziu Valentino also known as Liberace. With the help of No Place to Go collaborators and creative technologists in Boulder’s BLDG61 Maker Space, Steven Frost embodies Liberace and takes guests into a glittering nightmare. They created a place where Liberace confronts the excesses of the celebrity culture he helped create. Guests watched as a former Vegas headliner was forced to perform the same four-minute act again and again inside an abandoned Dollar Tree Store down the block from the famous Casa Bonita Restaurant.
